Sampling in Nova Scotia Pt. 2

In June 2023, we conducted a new sampling in Nova Scotia. On this occasion, the objectives of the trip were: a) to visit St. Paul Island for the first time and sample various lagoons there that had not been previously studied; b) to revisit Seal Island to obtain a longer sediment core than the one obtained last year using a different sampling technique (peat core); and c) to sample a lagoon on Bon Portage Island, which has been previously studied and where various bird colonies nest.

This sampling was carried out in collaboration with the University of Newfoundland (specifically Dr. Kathryn Hargan and her PhD student Katie Lau) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

Durante Junio de 2023 llevamos a cabo un nuevo muestreo en Nueva Escocia. En esta ocasión, los objetivos de este viaje fueron: a) Visitar la isla de St Paul por primera vez y muestrear distintas lagunas de allí que no han sido previamente estudiadas; b) revisitar la isla de Seal para obtener un testigo de sedimento más largo al obtenido el año pasado empleando otra técnica de muestreo (peat core) y c) muestrear una laguna en la isla de Bon Portage ha sido previamente estudiada y donde anidan distintas colonias de aves.
